Inspirational Movie Lines: Your Input Requested!
Just in case you didn't know it, I am a huge movie buff... and of an eclectic mix of genre. I'm not in it for the purpose of answering useless trivial pursuit game questions; but for the sheer enjoyment, temporary escape, and most importantly for the deeper meanings within those one liners that stick with me forever. I began keeping a journal of these "Movie Lines Fraught With Meaning" some years ago, and then started this blog... Now, because of recent events in my life, I am seeking your input for the most inspirational lines that stuck with you! Please comment below with the movie reference, the actor/actress, and the character's name: Thank you so much! (My next post will ask for the absolute funniest lines because once chemo starts... I'll really need those.)

Tribute to Robin Williams... love this movie and all it stands for!
We don’t read and write poetry because it’s cute. We read and write
poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is
filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are
noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty,
romance, love, these are what we stay alive for. To quote from Whitman,
“O me! O life!… of the questions of these recurring; of the endless
trains of the faithless… of cities filled with the foolish; what good
amid these, O me, O life?” Answer. That you are here – that life exists,
and identity; that the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a
verse. That the powerful play *goes on* and you may contribute a verse.
What will your verse be? Dead Poets Society

Profound thoughts for today...
When a woman who has much to say- says nothing,
the silence can be deafening.
King Mongkut (Yun-Fat Chow) in:
Anna and the King
And the sea shall grant each man new hope;
as sleep brings dreams of home.
Captain Marko Ramius (Sean Connery)
quoting Christopher Columbus in:
The Hunt for the Red October

Children...
It's a lot of work. As hard as you think it is, you end up wishing it were that easy.

Keep Trying...
I had always felt that I'd beetter just keep trying, especially when the world around me seems to have stopped. When you're not trying ~ you fade away. And I'm not going to fade away until I absolutely have to. Something, somewhere ~ is going to say (I) was here. Shirley MacLaine, The Evening Star

"Release the Kraken!"
It's fun to say and oddly appropriate in most situations (if combined with a meaningful look and a nod to acknowledge that your conversational partner clearly knows the deeper meaning you intended and therefore need not be explained because you know you have found a kindred spirit). This results in invitations to philosophical salons, beatnik parties, and heartfelt confidences, as they return the trust you have so kindly invested in them already. Sometimes though, they just change topics. People are weird like that. ;) From Tembi

Life...
Life is just an uphill battle. You gotta keep on fighting. You must figure out why you lose the battles you lose; and, pray like hell you win the war. Shirley MacLain as Aurora, Evening Star
